Aircraft, up close

A closer look at the models, materials and details that define the experience.

Close-up of a fighter's nose and canopy

In a flight game the aircraft is the one object on screen at all times. It is also the thing players remember best, so it is where we are most careful.

Silhouette first

Before anything else, the rebuilt model has to match the original's proportions from every angle. Wing sweep, tail placement and the shape of the nose define an aircraft at a glance. If the silhouette drifts, no amount of surface detail will make it feel right.

One reference aircraft

The EF2000E Typhoon II is our reference model for Ace Combat 3 Remix. We tune materials, lighting response and level of detail on it first, then carry those decisions across the rest of the roster so every aircraft feels like part of the same world.

Materials that respond to light

The original models used flat, pre-lit textures. The remastered models use physically based materials, so painted metal, canopy glass and exhaust nozzles each react to the sun, the clouds and the sea in their own way. Panel lines and fasteners stay subtle: they add scale without changing the character of the design.

Keeping the choice

Every aircraft can still be flown in its original form. The comparison views on the aircraft pages show the two side by side.
